DESCRIPTION

​This tiny town, in the Cascade Mountains, east of Seattle, reinvented itself in the 1960s as a Bavarian-themed village — and became a popular tourist destination. Come for a day and revel in the kitschy, lederhosen-clad fun.

Enjoy a hearty Teutonic meal, like wurst with sauerkraut in one of the beer gardens. Try a beer from one of the three local Brewing Companies.

Throughout the trip, you'll hear about the unique history of Leavenworth and the German/Bavarian culture.

Enjoy the scenic drive through the mountains along emerald creeks and waterfalls.
Watch out for wildlife, deer, bald eagles and even a bear might be seen.

ITINERARY

• Depart from Seattle at 9am.

• Coffee Stop in Gold Bar, a small town with a heritage of mining and logging.

• Drive along the Skykomish River into the Cascades toward Stevens Pass. Along the way we will stop to take photos.

• Around noon we'll arrive in Leavenworth, perfect time for a Bavarian Brotzeit (lunch). After lunch there'll be plenty of time to explore town.

• We will leave Leavenworth at about 2:30pm and take the route via Snoqualmie Pass back.

• At about 5pm we will be back in Seattle
